Specialty Bokken - Red Oak and Maple

Custom handmade Bokken using Red Oak and Maple.
This Bokken is made with a wood bending process to produce a strong weapon and a clean look. It started as a block of Red Oak wood approx. 42" x 3" x 1-1/4" and was sliced into six 1/4" thick strips that were 1-1/4" wide and 42" long. These strips are then glued and clamped to a form, to produce and hold it's curve.
Two thing strips of Maple were laminated to sides and the shaping process began.

The Red Oak is a little lighter than other woods. Coming in at 500 grams, it is an idea Bokken for those who may want a lighter weapon.
